Agroecology and composting with seaweed

AGROECOLOGY AND COMPOSTING in MOIA MOIA. A day full of learning for our project AMMAR women’s team from Moia Moia. We joined the ONGD CERAI and the Moia Moia Farmers Association for training on nature-friendly agriculture, and the practical session on laminar composting, where one of the layers included seaweed collected in the nearby bay, where high quantities are present all year round. This gives a great opportunity to convert seaweed biomass from rotting waste into valuable addition to enrich local soil and support sustainability of agriculture in Cabo Verde. Well, in about two months we will see the result. As agricultural engineer Dr. Paulo, for this to happen is needed 5 essential components - Water, Air, Food, Shelter and Love.

The project is AMMAR is implemented by ECOCV in collaboration with University of York, UniPiagetCV, INIDA, Municipality of Sao Domingos, INIDA and community members.
